I received my new Giant 29er XTC Advanced SL recently. I decided to use my sun logo as the base of the design. I then made up a few different metallic based shades of the Giant blue and finished it of with a few coats of 2 pak clear. I then designed and printed up custom fork decals to finish it off, just in time for the summer race season.

Tanya’s Paul Smith Parlee

I painted up Tanya’s Parlee a couple of years ago in a subtle giraffe pattern. After many races and alot of km’s, the bike was looking a bit tired. She approached me with the idea of painting up the bike in Paul Smith inspired stripes. This was the outcome.

Aussie Champ 4 Shaw Helmet

Dion from 4 Shaw agencies wanted another helmet done for one of his sponsored riders. As usual the breif was “you know what to do, just make it stand out”. I don’t think you’ll miss this Aussie champion at a race.

Circuitry Frame

A frame builder from Canberra contacted me to paint a steel frame he was putting together for the Melbourne Handmade Bike Show. He wanted the tubing all wrapped with an electronic circuit pattern. After nutting out how I was going to do it, I painted the base lime green, layed down my stencils, painted black and then finished off with clearcoat with green pearl added

Wooden rock shox

A while ago l was asked to paint some carbon road forks to match a handmade timber frame from the USA. This time a guy had a mountain bike made from the same company and asked if l could paint up his rock shox forks to match the timbers in the frame. I painted the blonde timber first and made it look like the graphics were inlayed in from the cherry timber. Lots of fun.

Concorde Gavina

Olympic Bikes

Had the privelidge of designing and painting the mountain bikes for the 2012 Olympic games. The breif was(green and gold aussie stuff, you know what to do). This was the final outcome, simple and fast looking finished off with a matt clear.

Team Telekom Merckx

A mate bought this Eddy Merckx, it was painted yellow with red decals. He always wanted a Team Telekom Merckx. After gathering as many reference photos as possible, I went about recreating the decals and the exact original colour scheme. This would have to be one of my favorite restorations.

Classic Master

This old classic Colnago Master belongs to a collector. He has this same bike done in red and wanted a blue one to match. After a few hours of making stencils and fading out pearl blue with the airbrush over a pearl white base, the end result was very pleasing. The owner wants me to do a green one next.

Fred Perry Classic

I was approached by the owner of a clothing store that imports Fred Perry clothing from the UK. Fred Perry are releasing a line of cycling garments and the store owner asked me to design and paint a bike for the shop window.

4Shaw helmet

The owner of 4 Shaw Agencies wanted his logo applied to his helmet in an abstract style. Logo applied in basecoat and finished in 2 pak flat clear

Garron’s Tommasini

This was a mate of mine’s first race bike back in the mid 80’s. It’s a Tommasini Super Prestige. After sitting in the shed for many years, his son decided to get me to bring it back to life for his birthday. After getting a new chainstay welded in, rechroming and a few hours of painting, she was reborn.

Ozriders

Ozriders is a company run by a fellow cyclist called James (Jimmy) Maebus. He recently had some nice kit made up and wanted a bike and helmet to match. I designed the paintwork based on his kit and included pattern work of his foam coloured hand grips to break it up. You might spot Jimmy at the next race looking very pro.

Wooden forks

A bike collector bought a Renovo timber bike frame from the States. It’s a beautiful peice of craftsmanship. He asked me to paint some carbon forks to match the frame. I love a challenge and this was the end result.

Parlee Veyron

Peter at Cycling Edge has always loved and raced cars. He came up with the idea of painting a Parlee based on the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The bike and the Enve 65 tubulars are painted in black and bright orange and finished in 2 pak flat clear.

Merckx Team 7 11

A customer purchased this classic from overseas and it had seen better days. I fully restored it back to it’s original condition, the only changes were painting the lugs green. I colour matched to original colours but added pearl to give it a bit of lustre in the sun.

Buzz’s Parlee

Burnt Orange Bates

Recently bought this old Bates frame back to life. It was completely covered in pinstriping and alot of rust. I sanblasted it all back and applied base layer of candy apple burnt orange and repainted the logos as they originally were. On this project I got a mate of mine Simon Smirk, one of the best hot rod pinstripers around, to finish it off. I then sealed it all with a thick coat of 2 pak clear and polish.
